According to the Toltecs, a civilization from Central America, the aim of life is to play and have fun. We are not meant to suffer, but to be happy.
In the book Mastery in Love, Don Miguel Ruiz writes:
Anyone who wants to suffer may do so, but it is not necessary.
Why most people think that suffering is meant to be is due to our belief system. The religions have told us so. We are rewarded for it after death, in heaven.
Most people have by now realized that heaven is a fantasy. But they don't want to give up the suffering. Thus, they continue to create their own hell on Earth.
Why? I honestly don't understand either.
